Introducing a KYC (Know Your Customer) Verification process to further enhance the security and integrity of the MapleStory Universe community. 

The overview of the purpose, key requirements, and essential information you need to know about the KYC procedure is elaborated as below. 

 

1. What is KYC? 

KYC (Know Your Customer) is the process of verifying a user’s identity and assessing potential risk before granting access to certain services. By checking ID documents and proof of residence, KYC helps prevent fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing and other illicit activities.   

 

2. Why do we require KYC? 

In MapleStory Universe, the KYC process is essential to ensure a safe and secure environment for all users. By verifying identities, we aim to prevent fraudulent activities, scams, and money laundering, terrorist financing, while maintaining compliance with international regulations to minimize legal risks. This process also strengthens the protection of digital assets, enabling users to engage in gameplay and related digital asset transactions with greater confidence and peace of mind.   

 

3. KYC Levels 

To ensure a secure and compliant platform, the KYC framework sets specific verification requirements for each level. Even at Level 0, you can play MapleStory N and access most features within the MapleStory Universe including trading NFT items within the MSU Marketplace, the NXPC/NESO swap feature, and Fusion & Fission. Please refer to the table below for a detailed overview of the features available at each KYC level.

※ Effective as of May 22, 2025, the daily bridge-out limit for NXPC will be calculated based on the USD-equivalent amount of bridged NXPC, as referenced from a third-party price API.

※ At launch, only Level 1 verification will be available. Level 2 verification will be introduced following system stabilization. 

 

4. How can I complete KYC? 

You can complete KYC on the MapleStory Universe web.   

  1. Go to MapleStory Universe Web and connect your wallet. 

  2. Click the profile button in the top right corner and select Verification. 

  3. Choose the verification level you want to complete, and you will be redirected to the KYC page.

    • You can only complete KYC on your mobile device. If you start the process on a PC as described above, a QR code will appear. Scan the QR code with your mobile device to continue the KYC process on mobile. 

  4. KYC is processed through an automated system. However, if your documents require additional review, a manual review will be conducted, which may take additional time. 

  5. Once your KYC verification is complete, you will receive the result via notification on MapleStory Universe Web.

※ Processing times may vary depending on the number of verification requests. During the initial launch phase of KYC, processing may be delayed due to high demand. 

※ KYC may fail if you are located in or using an ID issued from a region subject to regulatory restrictions, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, South Korea, Syria, Ukraine, and United States. 

※ In compliance with global regulatory requirements, sanction screening is automatically carried out immediately after identity verification. If a user is flagged based on sanction list - such as the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List, the U.S. Department of Commerce Denied Persons List, or other similar watchlists- access to MapleStory Universe or all related services or content will be restricted.
